About.com organized a competition for Instant Messaging services on March 21, 2008. There are six categories in this competition: Best IM Experience, Most Improved IM, Best Mac IM, Best Third-Party IM, Best Feature and Developer(s) of the Year.

200 e-mailed nominations from the world and ten IM clients were named nominees of the first IM Best Awards reader’s survey.

After a ten-day voting period, more than 22,000 votes cast, winners of the 2008 IM Best Awards are finally announced by today. Full results after jump.
