Here is the latest Adobe Director 11 updates. It’s a minor updates if compare with my previous post - Adobe Director 11 updated News.
Anyway, least is better than none. Let’s see the news I got from Adobe forum.
Dean Utian has mentioned
John Dowdell, an Adobe Developer Support person made some comments on his
blog in the last few days speculating that Director’s development cycle
is over. He is not part of the Director team and was just guessing. The
one positive result of his comment is that it has brought out some
public comments from key people in the Director development team to set
the record straight.
From Tridib Roy Chowdhury, Director of Products at Adobe
Adobe has invested in a large engineering team which is working towards
the next release of Director 11
We are also getting ready to start the discussions on the Director 3
year roadmap.
K Venkatesh, Senior Program Manager, Director-Shockwave.
Director-Shockwave combo is alive and kicking. The version 11 is due in
2H07 and I manage the release program of Director and Shockwave.
and he also answered the question of what’s the new features in coming Adobe Director,
Another big update is Unicode text. I’m not sure if you’ve had much experience
in this area. It is quite a significant change to text treatment and would be a
very large job to implement. So, Director 11 is bound to be more than a
maintenance release.
As I’ve said before, Macromedia neglected Director and let bugs and cracks
develop in the code. Part of Adobe’s update to the new Operating Systems is to
close as many of the cracks and legacy bugs and build a much stronger base for
future development. So, while Director 11 may not have the wave of new features
we’d all like to see (like 3D engine etc.), I’m hopeful it will be the start of
a stronger future under Adobe.
If Adobe really wanted to depreciate Director, the could have written it off now
and avoided OS updates and things like Unicode. To me, this investment of time
and resources shows they ARE NOT looking at Director as a short term thing.

Stay tuned for more updates!

Just get to know that the latest Shockwave player has been released today. I believe this a Vista-compliant version of the Shockwave player, which will force the movie to use DirectX 7. (If you want to know more about the future of Shockwave Player and Adobe Director 11, read this.)
For those who have no idea what shockwave player is , I have a brief description at below
About Macromedia Shockwave Player
Shockwave Player is the web standard for powerful multimedia playback. The Shockwave Player allows you to view interactive web content like games, business presentations, entertainment, and advertisements from your web browser.
Over 200 million web users have installed the Macromedia Shockwave Player. These people now have access to some of the best content the web has to offer including dazzling 3D games and entertainment, interactive product demonstrations, and online learning applications. The Shockwave Player displays web content that has been created by Macromedia Director, including content made with previous versions and Director MX 2004.
(For more information about Shockwave player, visit here.)
Download the Latest Shockwave Player here.
My angle
It is a good news for all the director users and Windows Vista users(no more compatible problem). Hopefully Adobe Director 11 also can be released soon without any more delays.

I just got this from Adobe Director official forum. It is a good news for all the people who still waiting for the release of Adobe Director 11.
“Hi,I am the product manager for Director and Shockwave at Adobe. We are very much aware of this issue, and have a two-step plan to address the performance issue on Vista.
1. In the very short term, we will release a Vista-compliant version of the Shockwave player, which will force the movie to use DirectX 7. While the performance is still likely to be poorer than on XP, it will be better than what you see today (with software rendering).
2. With the next release of Director, we plan to move to DirectX 9.x.
I appreciate the problems developers are facing, and assure you that the team is working very hard to fix these performance issues.”, from Ritesh Banglani(Product manager for Director and Shockwave at Adobe)
and he also said that,“I cannot give an exact release date for the next version, but it will likely be towards the end of the year rather than the middle. The Shockwave Vista release (with DirectX 7) will be out sooner - in 6 weeks or so.We will NOT upgrade the 3D feature set in the forthcoming Director release. Requirements like new platform support, performance and text engine enhancements are very urgent, and we don’t want to delay this release beyond 2007. However, we are committed to maintaining Shockwave as the leading 3D format on the web, and you WILL see 3D enhancements in a subsequent release. The move to DirectX 9 is a signal of our long term commitment to Shockwave 3D and scheduled for the year-end release.
I know this is not the answer many of you are looking for. I appreciate your patience, and hope to keep the channels of communications open!”
So basically I still see the bright future of the next version of Adobe Director. How about u?
