iGoogle, the new name for the Google Personalized Homepage
Google just annouced the new name for the Google Personalized Homepage – iGoogle.
According to Sophia Brueckner, iGoogle Software Engineer, “iGoogle is a name that connotes interactivity, the Internet, and personalization all at once.
Developers around the world have been working hard to make more and more of the world’s content available for iGoogle. Can you get, oh, some of the world’s most beautiful pictures, updated daily? Check. Thousands and thousands of gadgets to choose from? Check. A personal note and picture from your sweetie? For those have no idea what Google Personalized Homepage is.
Google Personalized Home allows you to add personalized tools(notepad, sticky note,gmail), news feeds(blogs, news), and games to your Google page. You can rearrange the individual tools by dragging and dropping them. Tools come from both Google and third party programmers.
Simply type in www.google.com/ig in your browser, then sign in with our Google Id to start your Google Personalized Homepage adventure.
iGoogle sounds not bad. The syllable is definitely shorter than “Google Personalized Homepage”. It is a pretty smart business plan for its users and media to introduce it to the others easily – “Have you tried iGoogle?”
