Solutions For Slow Internet (Streamyx) Connection
Update: You may register a free account at OpenDNS to bypass Streamyx. The setting configuration will take you less than 1 minute.
I was having extremely slow internet connection from Streamyx last week. It could be the most frustrating problem in Malaysia because it’s extremely difficult to contact Streamyx customer support.
Therefore, I sent an email to help@tm.com.my to indicate my slow connection and got their reply after 2 days. Below are the solutions provided by Streamyx refer to my query on connection issue.
Streamyx Slow Internet Connection Troubleshooting
1) Bypass splitter/micro filter/fax machine/lightning protector.
2) Stand alone connection, from wall socket to modem (Means no parallel line, no spliter, no hub).
3) Flush DNS (Domain Name Server)
a) For Windows 98/ME:
- Click on “Start” button, go to “run”
- Type “winipcfg” and then click “OK”
- Select your network card name from the adapter drop-down menu
- Click on “Release” button
- The IP address should display 0.0.0.0. Then click “Renew All”
- Click “OK” to close the window
b) For Windows XP/2000:
- Click on “Start” button, go to “run”
- Type “command”, click “OK”
- Type in “ipconfig /flushdns”, then press “Enter”
- Make sure the result is “Successfully flushed the DNS Resolver cache”
- Type “exit” and press “Enter” to close the window screen
c) For Windows Vista:
- Click the Microsoft Vista Start logo in the bottom left corner of the screen
- Click “All Programs”
- Click “Accessories”
- Right-click on “Command Prompt”
- Select “Run As Administrator”
- In the command window, type in “ipconfig/flushdns”, then press “Enter”
- You should see the result “Successfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache”
d) For Mac OSX:
- Double click on “Macintosh HD”
- Click On “Applications”, followed by “Utilities”. Locate “Terminal.app”,double click it
- A new “Terminal” will open
- To IP Config: Type in “ifconfig” at the command prompt
- To Flush dns: Type in “lookupd -flushcache” at the command prompt
4) Switch off the modem, unplug/re-plug all cables, wait for 5 to 10 minutes before switching on the modem.
5) Configure DNS (Domain Name Server).
- (Preferred DNS Server: 202.188.0.133/Alternate DNS Server: 202.188.1.5)
6) Clear Temporary Files, Delete Cookies and Delete Files under Internet Options.
7) Clear SSL Certificates (Internet Option).
- Click on “Tools”
- Select “Internet Options”
- Click on “Content” tab
- Click on “Clear SSL State”
Restore default browser settings.
- Click on “Tools”
- Select “Internet Options”
- Select “Advanced”
- Click on “Restore Defaults”
9) Temporarily disable firewall settings.
10) Perform Windows scan.
11) Temporarily disable anti-virus software.
12) Disable P2P application.
13) Reboot computer and the modem.
14) Do a bandwidth test from our website as follows:
(http://202.188.95.52:8080/speedometer/)
If the result is below 70% of the required speed, please send an email to help@tm.com.my by attaching the result in kbits.
In order for Streamyx to streamline such matter, kindly run a ping (-n 30) command from your Streamyx connection to the game server and provide them with the result.
To run a Ping command:
1) Click Start
2) Click Run
3) type: cmd
or type: command [press Enter]
4) In MS-DOS prompt, type: ping {your game server address} -n 30 [press
Enter]
Basically these are the troubleshooting we should perform when facing slow connection.
Note: Please make sure whether your area is running an upgrade, fixing, or technical problem before you run these troubleshootings.

@JIE, you need to contact Streamyx customer service and make a report for it. Remember jot down your report number.

Is telephone cable the same as road highways?
1. Roads during peak period will have traffic jams.
2. However, telephone cables are similar to TNB cables.
3. One electric cable from TNB is connected to a row of terrace houses.
4. Bear in mind the usage of electricity is 24 hours per day in every house. Peak usage is during the night with TVs, airconds etc. Do you experience low voltage? Power surge perhaps.
5. Is broadband usage 24 hours? Is every house using broadband?
Therefore,
1. I urge everyone to check whether you are getting the download speed that you subscribed from streamyx. For your info, you should get at least 90%.

3. If you are getting below 50%, please do a print screen.
4. To do a print screen, put your cursor at the down right hand corner (put the cursor at the time) to get the date and day appear. Once appear, press together the keyboard buttons ctrl and prt sc.
5. Next click start, All Programs, Accessories, Paint
6. Press keyboard buttons ctrl and v
7. Then File, Save As (put a name) Save into your desktop
8. Send it as attachment to amarjit.singh@cmc.gov.my, shaharliza@cmc.gov.my, mdshaani@fomca.org.my
9. They need your support and evidence to bring up to TM
10. Please support for everyone benefit
I don’t know why streamyx can manopoly malaysia broadband markets.But I know is they get a lot of supports from the government.I still use streamyx because my area cannot support jaring and penang fon.I don’t use wireless connection due to radiation.
i think it depend on how many people using streamyx at your neighbourhood..my house is far from other so i get full speed of connection..
i can watch movie online without any lagg..

me even worse, i am facing problem with frenquent disconnecting. Somehow i called Tmnet asked for helped but they kept wanted me do this do that at last they didnt solve my problem. At last your all can connect but slow but i bought Rm99 service but now i dont even can get online!!! sometimes even appear run in 10mbs only with 0.1%.
Every two minutes diconnect one times ==. Toturing me a lot and the customer sevice was lousy, it seem that all streamyx worker are new worker?? They will never solve my problem. So the better way is to send the E-mail to complain!!!!

Streamyx!!!! Seriously the most problem connection I ever had and their Customer Service makes me laugh all the time. I switched to Maxis Broadband more or less the same with Streamyx. Celcom Broadband! haha they are in the same boat kayuh punyer kayuh tapi tak sampai2x . I think Broadband industry in Malaysia is very bad! Maybe they should change that Broadband term into Slowband! it will help to reduce stress and disappointment with their customers since they have a clear “picture” on the connection. I think anak babi berlari lagi cepat siot….
Is there any way to test/have evidence that we are not getting the connection speeds promised?

why my streamyx so slow..?i buy 1mbps packages but i use juz 300-400kbps(download) and upload average 400kbps..
so?for what i pay 1mbps every month but just use around 256k..

Cara-cara melajukan Streamyx
1. Jika guna IE, disable phishing filter dan automatically detect settings.
2. Jika guna FF atau Google Chrome(GC), tukar segera kepada IE7.
3. FF dan GC guna banyak RAM. Jika RAM tak cukup, komputer akan guna hard disk untuk survive. Lama-kelamaan hard disk rosak, RAM burn-out.
4. Disable semua automatic updates. Contohnya, NERO, Windows Media Player, AVIRA, Windows Update, dsb ada fungsi auto-updates.
5. Pastikan csrcs.exe tidak wujud. Yang ada cuma csrss.exe. Guna Autorun dan ProcessExplorer untuk mengesan “hantu” dalam computer anda.
6. Pastikan tiada extra toolbar diinstall pada browser anda.
7. Install JAVA dan flash player daripada websites yang asal.
8. Jangan lawat porn site, friendster, facebook etccc. Sedap seperti aiskrim tapi bawa penyakit diabetes dan buah pinggang. Gunakan internet untuk reliable information dan ingredients knowledge. Jika benar2 nak syok, beli sebuah komputer yang murah yang khas untuk projek bantai saja.
9. Selalulah berkunjung ke laman web Streamyx dan baca Announcement di situ.
10. Scan komputer dengan A-squared dan Malwarebytes.

what the hell with streamyx ? its just goverment monopoly company.. since first i register until end of contract 2 years, almost every month keep complaining about slow speed or unstable. and someties almost every week.. and now i have 2 month unstable speed. i pay full every month for unlimited 1mb.. but i just can use about 5~9 hour max.. other than that very2 slow..
we pay full for half service… why you not cut the price since you cut your service? idiot

yeah.. i read so many blog and forum they talk about slow streamyx speed andi have that problem as well..
2 years i using it untill my contract agreement 2 years with streamyx ended, everymonth and sometimes everyweek i call to complain bout it. and now 2 momth directly i have slow speed. i pay unlimited but only can use for few hour with a good speed.. but they not doing anything. the noob technician just said we already change port to new port but the resut stil same.. all the time changing port but nothing work…
i dunno what the hell with all of them. talk about good services but its all suck…
maybe all of them just stupid. dunno how to read what ppl said about their services..

today technican from streamyx coming to my house solve my line problem..they said my wireing was trouble then they fix just now..after dat i ask for a new modem (im using BILLION old modem) then they said i need to pay it but i call 100 to ask for my warranty then the c.service say my warranty till december..so wtf the technican ask for pay my new modem??..truly la tmnut lie people money..lucky im not stupid..cibaii tmnut..
Streamyx always sucks. The connection slows down these 2 days and my average download speed is 5kbps, when my downloads will complete? Next century is it? Malaysia is one of the country that internet undergoes slowest connection, that even sucks more right. Streamyx should change its attitude.
And this is for the Roketmode, what’s ur problem? Are u from the streamyx company? Oh ya, Zaman P.ramli doesn’t have internet at all, so we should be glad right? WTH are u saying, maybe u are just a kid, didnt know that internet acquires money too la noobie. This is not free, we have to pay for internet, and streamyx took our money and give us a slow internet connection, can we get our money back from streamyx? This is not zaman problem la stupid, this is business deal. We pay, We get, We don’t get, We scold. It’s already lucky for streamyx since nobody sues the company.

I too am having SERIOUS problems with streamyx. like just 2 nites ago, took me 4 SOLID hours just to log in to msn, and to open my email. Bloody hell! I’m forking out 90 bucks ++ per month, and this is the quality of service I’m getting?! I do not understand why is it so hard for them to at least upgrade their servers, to handle the congestion? Don’t they feel its a win-win situation for everyone?
Even called their cust sevice last nite as a last resort. Guess wat? they asked me 2 do the same old things! And still not resolved, so they just create a log report, and “we will send a technician over to check your line” I went like “Is it possible that i arrange it, coz I’m working during the weekdays?” The girl just said that if the tech finds ur not at home, he’ll leave a note
WTF! Of coz the tech won find me at home, coz I’m working from mon to fri! And they’ll only come during, you guessed it, during the weekdays. If they show up and find me not around, I’m gonna call that number, and I’m gonna make hell of a lot of noise on the phone, and I’m gonna demand to speak to the manager on duty. Its streamyx’s fault now, not mine. Don’t expect me to take half day off just to accommodate u guys! You should me accommodating me!!
Anyway back to the win-win situation. Yeah streamyx I hope ur looking at this, coz this a lesson for improving your business. If you managed 2 upgrade the servers to managed the congestion issue, not only are you keeping ur current subscribers happy for getting their money’s worth, but your also getting new ppl 2 sign up. In the end, you’re also getting the revenue. Sheesh! You don hav 2 b a genius to think like that.

1. sebahagian tempat tak support packag yang kita mohon.
sebelum kita mohon pastikan tempat kita support berapa MBPS.
Streamyx tak akan cakap pasal tu sebab dia cuma nak duit je.
2. Streamyx bukan unlimited, dia control bandwith dia taknak dia punya server busy.
Streamyx sepatutnya tukar dari unlimited ke limited.
Contoh : semalan connection ok takada ribut takada apa tiba-tiba
hari ni slow.telefon 100 dia suruh kita buat benda yang tak patut tak ok
buat report. technician datang dia check cable check tu check ni tak ok
dia cakap in mungkin port ada masalah.Dia pergi check port selang beberapa jam
ok balik connection kita.Aku tak pikir itu port punya masalah. Aku cuma fikir
itu lakonan semata-mata.

Anyway.. the special about streamyx is, it is the only wired broadband in Malaysia… Dominating more than 70% of broadband subsciber in Malaysia. Since our payment is only contribute a small amount of revenues than business user, the service quality need to be shared all over of the consumer user. streamyx can improve their quality service, but are we ready to pay more? My tips here.. always alert if your link LED is blinking.. link LED supposed to be stable and not blinking… once its blinking, it means your adsl line is interupt.. this will result in no connection or problem to connect to the internet.. if the problem continues to happen more than 5 times in 1 hour, it is better to make a report to streamyx by dialing 100 and let them know about it. dont gives them chances to relax if this type of problem happen.. Be a smart consumer..
Everyone should go to mcmc.gov.my to complain as they collect statistics on this stuff. Last time I complained about my streamyx they got them to call me back within a day. As opposed to me repeatedly calling to complain.
I’m quite tired of Streamyx as the service is abysmal. Right now it’s very slow. Unfortunately when you want to send or receive big emails or do certain things on the net your work is slowed down by eons as a result of the slow speed. And they do not give you a discount for their poor quality service – they should be punished, if they advertise 1MB and they give you 150kbps speeds (like what I’m experiencing right now) they should give you a discount or waive the monthly fee.
Hence I’m going to switch. I think now with the new broadband packages there are choices out there. P1 I hear is not good though and the rm999 disconnection fee is ridiculous.
yup streamyx is slow…download speed like only 60kb max/sec….when i try using my cousin internet in singapore, download speed like 650kb max/sec..this prove streamyx is 10x backwards….congrats…
I’m having real problems with UPLOAD capabilities. It takes at least 3 attempts (if I’m lucky) to attach a lousy 50kb file. Yea, 50kb!!! Anyone else having this problem? Is there a way to fix this? Or another way to share/mail photos? Cos it’s annoying the hell outta me.
Come on, don’t bluff those who know nothing about Internet. I am a network infrastructure consultant. Your solution doesn’t help at all! Those are merely troubleshooting steps. I tot you got some tricky setting on DSL configuration to get better solution. What an attractive post title but out-of-topic content.
Streamyx are slow.. it just like u load a website and a baby born at the same time.. after the website is done the baby has reach puberty… CURSED U STREAMYX!!! UTTERLY IMBECILES!!!
